Introduction – Background
Orijen focuses on bioavailable ingredients that are regionally sourced and never outsourced. They try to feed your dog as close to what their ancestors (wolves) would eat, only more convenient.

The main thing to consider with these ingredients is that there are 8 legumes listed. These have a tendency to be high in non-bioavailable protein. So, just keep that in mind. The following analysis will show a high amount of protein but some of that is coming from these legumes and not animal protein.

Orijen offers one of the lowest carb foods I’ve seen which is awesome! They offer a pretty good amount of protein and plenty of fat for energy.
They also have omega-3 and omega-6 fatty acids. These are heat sensitive and may not actually survive the kibble making process in a usable state.
The analysis does include glucosamine. 1400mg/kg of food may not be enough to really help your pet’s joints. A good rule to follow is 20mg per pound of your dog’s body weight.
Orijen offers dry food or freeze-dried foods for dogs.

This is a pretty solid food with lots of real meat, not by-products or meals. It is one of the lowest-carb diets and high protein and fat which is great for dogs. A downside is that they don’t have a ton of variety as far as flavors go. This could potentially be an issue for dogs with allergies.
